The role of Central Reserve Police Force being
multifaceted, the Force is being employed for variety of tasks
varying from providing aid to the State Administration in
maintenance of Law and Order, Static guard duties to protect
vulnerable areas and very important persons, to actively fighting
insurgents and anti-social elements in different parts of the
country. Frequent movements and ever changing tasks of the Force
demand very high state of training. The training is imparted in
the form of basic, promotional and instructional/specialised
courses at various training institutions as follows:-
The Internal Security Academy is located at Mount Abu, a hill station of Rajasthan, in the Aravali ranges, it is one of the premier Police training Institution in the Country which impart basic foundation training to Gazetted Officers of the Central Reserve Police Force and a few other CPMFs of the Country. The Academy also conducts various in-service courses for the officers of the CRPF.
Set up in 1975 under the aegis of Central Reserve Police Force, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the Academy also conducts Internal Security Courses and organise seminars for Senior Police Officers and Executive Magistrates of various States and UTs.

The Academy is located at Mount Abu in Rajasthan, 28 Kms from Abu Road Railway Station. It is on Delhi-Ajmer-Ahmedabad route. It is located about at 776 Kms from Delhi. It is also linked by Air via Ahmedabad (200 Kms) or Udaipur (180 Kms)
Mount Abu has a healthy and salubrious climate
the year round. Winters are as cold as in Delhi. The average
maximum and minimum temperature during day and night from
November to February is approximately 25* C and 7* C
respectively. From July to September it rains, the average
annual rain fall being 150 Cms, though in some year it has
rained as much as 400 Cms. The average day and night temperature
during these months will be around 20* C and in the summer months
from April to June, 35* C and 25* C respectively. The peak
tourist seasons at Mount Abu lasts from Ist April to 30th June
and from 1st September to 31st December.
This is an old campus of Abu Lawrence School where IPS Officers used to undergo training prior to 1975 and after which it was taken over by CRPF for Internal Security Academy.

The basic training in
CRPF is to convert a young educated & physically fit
person into a competent leader to meet the requirement of
the organisation by inculcating in him professionalism,
confidence, pride in the organisation, spirit-de-corps,

expected to be physically and mentally robust,
professionally sound, having knowledge and skill to lead

The Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers (Deputy Superintendents of Police) of Central Reserve Police Force were recruited for the first time in 1961 and their Basic Training was imparted at the National Police Academy, Mount Abu. From 1967 onwards the Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers of CRPF were imparted training exclusively at the Central Training College, CRPF, Neemuch which continued till 1975. Subsequently all Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers were trained at Internal Security Academy, Mount Abu. Their passing out parade marks the beginning of a challenging career for them which is full of responsibilities.
The Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers are trained in a variety of subjects like P.T, Yoga, Un-Armed Combat, Drill, Driving, Swimming, Internal Security, Police Science, Crowd Control, Field Craft and Tactics, Firing, Anti Insurgency operations, Mountaineering and Rock Climbing, Map Reading, Staff duties, Intelligence collection, Human Psychology, Behavioural Science, Management , Leadership, Laws and various CRPF Manuals etc. They are put through intensive training with a view of develop their physical endurance to withstand the rigorous demand of job in the field.
They march out into the future with a sense of dedication and pride, achievement and expectation to uphold the motto of Service and Loyalty.
The Academy has a very richly equipped Library having more than 48,000 books on variety of subjects and the library subscribes to more than hundred periodicals/magazines.
The I.S.A has a vital role to play in training of officers of the State Police and Para Military Forces in management of Internal Security. It is the only institution in India which conducts courses on Internal Security and enables DMs, SSP and Police Officers of the State Police and Central Police Organisations to interact on the issues of Internal Security with the experts on the field to give them a fresh out look, approach and re-orientation to face the multi dimensional challenges of the country.

The Central Training College-I, CRPF Neemuch, a premier Police training Institution in the country, was established on the 1st December1960. It is oldest training Institution of Central Reserve Police Force. The Institution has been conducting regular courses for CRPF personnel as also for other State and Central Police Organisations and departments like Narcotics, Parliament Security, I.B and Indian Air Lines. |

Climate of Neemuch is moderate, The afternoons are hot during summer but evening and nights are quite pleasant due to Malwa Breeze. Rainy season is from July to September. The winter is also moderate. |

The campus is an old cantonment which has sufficient out door training grounds and indoor classes. Sufficient facilities for recreation and games are available for the participants of different in-service courses.

The Central Training College-II has finally shifted to Coimbatore (Tamilnadu) from Avadi (Chennai) on 1st May1 2000 due to increased training responsibilities and lack of adequate training area and other administrative constrains. The campus comprises of 400 acres of land in the foot hills of Sanjeevi hills which fulfils all the pre-requisites for an ideal and most modern training institution. The semi- mountainous terrain is best suited for various out door exercises. An improvised field firing range and natural stop butt at the end by the hill is a special feature of the campus. |

The Central Training College-II is located at a distance of about 17 Kms from Coimbatore Railway Station which is on the Coimbatore-Bangalore highway. It can be reached by rail and is also well connected by air.
The climate is generally warm throughout the year. Monsoon period is from October to December normally. There is no winter season.
The campus is quite big and is being developed into a modern Training college.

The Central Training College-III was established in May1994 with the specific requirement of the Force in training Directly Appointed Subordinate Officers of Ministerial Cadre, Group C & D Hospital staff and organising promotional cadres for personnel at the level of Under Officers and Subordinate Officers besides some inservice and specialist courses of training. Its sprawling campus of 400 acres has completed 1st phase of construction. |

The Central Training College-III is located at Mudkhed at a distance of 40 Kms from Nanded in Maharastra. It is linked by rail and road. The distance is about 850 Kms from Delhi.
October to February (Winter). Nights are mildly cold and days are pleasantly warm. From March to June (Summer). Days are warmer than March to April and nights are pleasant with normal temperature. From May to June the intensity of heat increases during day and nights are hot.
The campus acquired for this institution is quite adequate to cater to the needs of outdoor training and for indoor classes.

All these Recruits Training Centres are well connected by rail, road and by air.
The capacity of each Recruit Training Centre is 1215 recruits
to be trained in 44 weeks. Accordingly staff is provided for
conducting basic training. RTCs are also organising Basic
and Refresher Training to Buglers. RTC-2 is also conducting Refresher Course of Bandsmen of the Force.

Hon’ble DG has
inaugurated the CIT on 02/05/11 in the presence of ADG SZ, Hyd, IGP(Pers &Comn),
DIGP Signal Range, DIGP GC BLR, Comdt 2 Signal Bn and other Officers in order to
educate the CRPF personnel on Information and Technology and to accelerate
E-governance, GIS projects, its implementation in the force to enhance
operational capabilities.
This institution started functioning wef 01/04/2011 as per orders of IGP (Pers & Comn) Dte CRPF vide office order No. M.V-5/2010-11-IT-DA-1 dated 23/03/2011 and the following courses have been designed by DIG (IT) completed/undergoing as per details tabulated below :-
In the Opening and closing address of each course, DIGP GC BLR will attend the same and interact with the personnel and explain about the purpose/use of courses in the use of field/office work.

1) In the recent past one newly introduced Course viz Geographical Information System(GIS) (Sl No. 01) consisting 24 candidates has been started w.e.f.14/11/11 to 26/11/11 (02 weeks) for which various personnel of field formations have been attended the course and successfully completed. Keeping in view the presence scenario in the field of internal security and situation in the Naxal infested area, the course is very use full to locate the Force carrying GPS equipments in the field and planning and counter operations in the deep Forest of Chattisgarh and Jharkhand etc.
2) This institution was also conducted study tour for about 09 (Nine) Officers of the rank of Assistant Commandants who are undergoing GO’s Technical Course Sl.No.26 at CTC(T&IT)CRPF Ranchi. They have been arranged to visit various IT Gaints/Corporate Offices and Manufacture Units of Communication equipments like BEL, ISRO, Infosys, IIS, ECIL, ITI, Motorola Institutions.
3) In addition to above, as desired by DIGP GC BLR and with the interest of Principal CIT BLR, each of one batch (3 months) of Basic computer awareness/handling course for families and wards of CRPF personnel residing at GC CRPF Campus, Yelahanka Bangalore completed on 03/11/11 and 08/11/11respectively. Again Second batch of training for two batches commenced w.e.f.15/11/11 for the same available resources and extra efforts of posted staff of CIT BLR after Office hours.
